It’s going to seem obvious when I say it, but these key components to receiving help from the universe and your guides are hard to do. We tend to fight it. Or we do one, but try to skip the other. Or we do two but forget the last step.
But here goes…
Ask. Listen. Do your homework.
You have to ASK, and you have to LISTEN, then you have to do some research to see if it seems true for you.
But is it really?
I find it’s really hard to remember to ask for help. I struggle in a situation for weeks before I think to ask my guides (the universe, whoever you pray to) for help.
Then, once I’ve asked I plow forward on whatever mission I’m on that week and forget to listen for the answers.
It’s both, ask and listen.
Listening does not mean you have to sit down and meditate, although quieting your mind certainly helps, it means turn the problem over to the universe and wait.
Go out into the world, interact with people, because Angels frequently answer your questions through others.
They work through songs that you suddenly hear on the radio over and over, or songs that pop into your head and you start singing them. The time on the clock has meaning. You may suddenly see 11:11, or 2:22, or 5:55, just notice.
Someone in line at the grocery may “randomly” tell you how they found this specific doctor who handles the exact problem you are experiencing.
Your Facebook feed may suddenly have posts that have to do with what you are going through. You don’t know how they got there, but they really apply to your situation.
Once you’ve asked, once you’ve listened, then try getting quiet one more time so you don’t make yourself crazy. Sometimes 20 different solutions present themselves and you have no idea which is the answer and what to follow.
You’ll need to sit with it. Does it feel true for you? You can ask for more clarity. “I’m not clear on which path to take for this specific challenge. Can you be more specific?”
For example, I have set the goal this year that I want to be in peak health. I feel pretty good, but something seems off just enough that it keeps me from being one of those people I admire with unlimited energy. I want to be one of those people who says things like “I just started popping out of bed in the morning and no longer even needed coffee (so not me right now). So I asked, “Please assist me in finding what my body needs to be in peak health.”
Same day I stopped with the kids at the park after school and another Mom told me she had an appointment with an acupuncture/chiropractor doctor who she really loves. She went on to say this doctor also uses Reiki and she thought I might like her (which of course got my attention with the Reiki). My back has been hurting, so I looked up the doctor, but my insurance doesn’t cover it so I admit I dismissed it a little as something I didn’t truly “need.”
Then, a different friend of mine who teaches energy healing asked if I wanted to receive a free healing as practice for one of her students. I said “Of course!” One of the first things this healer told me was that my energy was stuck and I would really benefit from acupuncture and massage (the referral I received offers both!).
Many of my friends will wait to hear something three times before they know it’s truly a message for them. In this case, in addition to these two times, a month prior my jaw was hurting and someone was telling me how they used an acupuncturist for it and it really helped.
So that’s three for me and I receive the message “I would benefit from acupuncture.”
I have learned, however, that you still need to do your homework. Even though you may ask something like “What will help me with this fatigue?” and a post about a vitamin may start appearing, you still need to research that vitamin’s quality and whether or not it’s safe for your body.
So I’m convinced acupuncture will be something that enhances my life, but now I want to do my homework on which doctor I choose and get several referrals.
I’ve now asked the universe again, “If my body would benefit from acupuncture, please help me find the doctor who would be most beneficial for me.” I’m leaving myself open to referrals and am looking up feedback on the one who combines acupuncture and reiki, because of course to me that seems like an amazing combination.
So it’s ASK, LISTEN, do your homework. Boom.
When you receive the answer, be sure to say “Thank you.” Not because you are ungrateful, although practicing gratitude never hurts, but because it lets your guides know you have received the message and they don’t have to keep sending you the information.
“Thank you for sending me this information.”
One last thing. No problem is too small to ask for help. Your guides, the universe, Angels, they all want to help you. But you have to ask!
What have you asked your guides for where you received a clear message in return? Did you follow it? Do you wait three times?
I would love to hear about it in the comments.
